For some reason I was thinking about a baseball field I would practice at when I was in little league. Whenever I hit a foul ball, it would fly deep into the woods and I’d have to go find it. Spent a lot of time looking for balls in the underbrush and tangles. Thought there was symbolism in this, but I think I just sucked at hitting.
lyrics
I settled down
Found a better way back out
You, you wrote my name on leather and lace
In the place, where we won't change
But you wrote it wrong
"Same old same" was my thought
If I hit it wrong
Fern-lined edge, and I'll get caught
Hey, I'll grab the sun
And tell everyone
"That boy, he can run!"
Hey, I'll grab the sun
And tell everyone
"That boy, he can run!"
Oh, slow decay
In the field where we played
Oh, slow decay
In the field where we played
