Every once in a while
We’re listening to ‘em talk all night
Waiting for some kind of sign
I don’t care, I don’t wanna go
Little citrus glow
On the horizon blue
They’re all so lush and green
But I don’t wanna go
It moved me to the point of tears
First time I’ve cried in years
It was music to my ears
In the city with all those open windows
Little citrus glow
On the horizon blue
They’re all so lush and green
But I don’t wanna go
Look at the rolling clouds
By the low moon
They’re gonna kill us all

Out in the orchard
behind the barn,
there is a footpath
as wide as arms.
We’ll wait for sundown,
and for the Red Cow
to fall asleep now
and to disarm.
Hey friendly neighbor
out on your porch.
I’ll be your gunman
I’ll be your torch.
Are you deserving
of all you see?
Are you willing
to hire me?
Hanging from a tree
there’s an apple for you and me.
For When They Come Around To Collect Them
We’ll be long gone
with rotten cores inside our palms.
For When They Come Around To Collect Them

jasmine curls around the ladder wrung
smoke inhaled by the young one’s lung
we’re eating ice cream
we’re having fun
when the loudspeaker crackles
the loudspeaker hums
with another…
of the kind, yeah
digital blues again
losing all self interest
with the digital blues again
so come outside
i’ll be waiting there
with the tea, your cup, and your long brown hair
be playing games
we’ll be having fun
when the car speaker crackles
the car speaker hums
with another…
moody song from a happy band
just a moody song from a happy band
we’ll be playing games
we’ll be having fun
hear another moody song
when people take pictures…
without the sun, yeah
digital blues again
losing all self interest
with the digital blues again
lets go back to the way it was

we fell down on the weekend
like puzzle pieces fall together in time
i’ve been out here believing the world in my head is a lie
turn the corners for forever
sunshine strawberries for the win
i’ve been out here believing the world in my head ‘cuz indeed i am a...
Slow Burn
hold my hand when you see me
push my head through the TV
turn me off when you’ve seen enough
wake me up in the morning
breakfast hold me with coffee or tea
i’ve been out here believing the world in my head ‘cuz indeed i am a…

‘Gordon Biehl liked to laugh a lot’,
read the note on the mirror.
Then he went and got himself caught,
in a routine traffic stop.
Kind of like another planet,
something out of this world.
No stranger to the lonely terrain,
still stuck in the steel.
Woke up to an arrow in my front door.
Gordon never calls me anymore.
Neighborhood kids climbing up the ladder,
“just to see what they could!”
said the old man down at the bar,
staying longer than he should.
Paperboy trapped in the shed.
Pipebomb sitting on his nightstand.
Gordon never thought he’d get caught.
A friend once said,
“The world’s a crooked place on Howard Avenue.”
Then he said, “Alright boys, that’s it, I’m out.
This one here is on the house!”
Then he grabbed his keys,
and he walked out.
Started up the engine on a cold winter night.
You know, where the red lights
turn to stops
in the night.
He said, “I swore I saw Mr. Gordon Biehl drive-by, collar down with a smile.”
